Custom Denali Wedding Band: A Mountain Inspired Wedding Ring

I’ve always felt that wedding bands deserve to be special. So many wedding bands are simple and traditional, and there’s nothing wrong with that if it feels like you. But there is so much room here for expression and personality that is often overlooked.

A wedding band is something you will wear every single day for the rest of your life. I think it should say something about who you are, what you love, or the experiences and places that have shaped you.

I recently had the opportunity to create this custom Denali wedding band, and I’m incredibly proud of how it turned out.

The design features Denali wrapping around the band, with tiny evergreen trees carved into the landscape and a flush-set diamond in the sky. For this piece, I broke out the microscope so I could get super detailed with the carving. Being able to see at that level allowed me to add incredibly fine details to the trees that would have been impossible to achieve otherwise.

The microscope was also a huge help when I flush set the diamond. Working at this scale with the ability to make tiny adjustments that are almost invisible to the naked eye allowed me to create a finish product that is extremely refined. The microscope is a tool that has really allowed me to take the amount of detail in my work to the next level.

One of my favorite parts of this commission, though, is how it came about.

I originally met the couple who commissioned this ring while vending at a festival. We were complete strangers. They saw my mountain rings, we started talking, and they trusted me to create something that would become part of one of the most important moments of their lives.

I don't take that trust lightly.

There’s something incredibly meaningful about being asked to make a piece of jewelry that someone intends to wear for a lifetime. I get to take a mountain that means something to someone and turn it into an object that will become part of their everyday life and their story.

That's one of the things I love most about making custom jewelry. The process of creating these deeply personal pieces and the trust someone places in me to make them feels like just as much of a treasure as the finished piece itself.

And that's exactly what a wedding band should be: something that feels unmistakably like the person wearing it.
